(SD, R4, Australia, MGM Home Entertainment)

In this "blazing, cinematic comic book" (variety), Arnold Schwarzenegger is "perfectly cast" (Los Angeles Times) as the fiercest and most relentless killing machine to threaten the survival of mankin! From the Oscar winning director of Titanic, this "fast-paced, cleverly conceived, rip-roaring adventure" (Box-office) fires an arsenal of thrills, intriguing twists and heart-stopping suspense that "never lets up for a minite" (Leonard Maltin).

In 2029, giant super-computers dominate the planet, hell bent on exterminating the human race! And to destroy man's future by changing the past they send an indestructible cyborg -- a Terminator (Schwarzengger) -- back in time to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), the woman who's unborn son will become mankind's only hope. Can Sarah protect herself from this unstoppable mance to save the life of her unborn child? Or will the human race be extinguished by "one mean hunk of mutant metal" (L.A. Herald-Examiner)?

  • For some weird reason the on-screen text at the start of the movie that details the future war to viewers is missing from this DVD. The text was replaced with a forced subtitle stream version. I believe this was fixed for the U.S. release but I don't think fixed versions were made available in Australia. The Terminator was re-released in Australia in a Definitive Edition set a short while ago but I have no idea if the missing on-screen text was restored on that release.
