When a ship is shot down on Planet Arus by several Doom ships, Hunk rescues the pilot, a pretty young girl named Twyla. While recuperating, Twyla explains that she is an escaped slave from Planet Doom. Hunk believes her but Keith has reservations. His reservations turn out to be well-founded when Twyla, under orders from King Zarkon, plants a time bomb in the Castle of Lions' ammunition storage room.

When Voltron was dubbed from Golion, the series suffered a number of edits, mostly to remove material that was considered objectionable or inappropriate for Voltron. However, some of the deleted material was intended to be featured in the series only to wind up on the cutting room floor anyway. This section details what deleted material was intended to be featured in "A Pretty Spy". Also detailed here are lines of dialogue that was scripted (and likely recorded) but not present in the episode.

  • Deleted from the start of the episode was a shot showing Twyla's ship in space heading for Planet Arus. Had this shot remained in the episode it would have been the episode's opening scene. It was likely cut for time.

  • Trimmed from the shot of Twyla telling the Voltron Force that Zarkon captured her family was Keith and Pidge walking up to her bedside.

  • A one-word line of dialogue from Keith right after Hunk accuses him of calling Twyla a liar was deleted: “Well...”

Some lines of dialogue were originally scripted differently. This section details the noteworthy differences.

  • Hunk's line “Hey, how do you like that Zarkon?” was originally scripted as: “Shee! How do ya like that Zarkon!”

  • In an apparent goof by writer Coslough Johnson, Hunk's line “Maybe Haggar's got another ship waitin' to take her back to Planet Doom!” was originally scripted as: “Maybe Hazar's got another ship waitin' to take her back to Planet Doom!”

  • Keith's line “She will. Because wherever there are forces of evil in these far-flung galaxies, they'll soon be defeated by Voltron -- Defender Of The Universe!” was originally scripted as: “She will...because where there are forces of evil in these far-flung galaxies, they will soon be put down by...VOLTRON! DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE!”
