When a group of highly-trained space explorers -- Keith, Lance, Pidge, Sven and Hunk -- arrive on Planet Arus, they find the planet has been devastated by the evil King Zarkon's forces. They are then captured by one of Zarkon's remaining ships and taken to Planet Doom. Imprisoned in the Doom slave dungeons, the space explorers hatch a plan to escape to Arus in hope of uncovering the secret of Voltron and resurrect the legendary defender of the universe. |
Having escaped from Planet Doom, Keith and the rest of the space explorers crash-land on Planet Arus. They eventually find their way to the royal castle, which is known as the Castle of Lions. There they meet Princess Allura and Coran, and learn more about the backstory of Voltron, the events that lead to his being taken out of commission, and Zarkon's subsequent invasion of Arus. The space explorers pledge to protect Planet Arus and become known as the Voltron Force! |
Zarkon's forces land on Arus and begin another attack, prompting Pidge to head out and see how close they are. The rest of the Voltron Force discover four of the five Lion Keys in the tomb of Allura's deceased father, King Alfor. When Pidge runs into trouble, the Voltron Force have no choice but to attempt to rescue him and battle Zarkon's forces with only four of the five Robot Lions. |
After Pidge and the rest of the Voltron Force safely make it back to the Castle of Lions they find the missing Black Lion Key. When Zarkon's forces begin another round of attacks on Arus, the Voltron Force form VOLTRON -- DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE and do battle with the Robeast. |
Angered by Voltron's triumphant return and his recent defeat on Planet Arus, King Zarkon has his best gladiator turned into a powerful Robeast and sends it to Arus where it and Voltron engage in a fierce and lengthy battle. |
After Voltron successfully repels another attack from King Zarkon, Haggar and a Robeast sneak on to Planet Arus with the intent of taking out one of the Voltron Force members. Haggar manages to isolate Sven from the others and seriously wounds him, knocking him out of action. With Sven out of commission, the Voltron Force are left with only four members and must fight Haggar's Robeast without Voltron when it reaches the Castle of Lions. |
Having heard of Voltron's resurrection, one of Allura's former carers, Nanny, returns to the Castle of Lions after many years of absence. However, she is displeased to learn that Allura is attempting to learn how to fly the Blue Lion. Believing that Allura has no place flying the Blue Lion, Nanny sets out to a nearby village in search of a suitable replacement only to get caught up in a rampage by King Zarkon's latest Robeast. When the Voltron Force have trouble battling the Robeast, Allura launches the Blue Lion to help them and save Nanny. |
When the mysterious Prince Bokar saves Princess Allura in a training drill gone wrong, he is invited to the Castle of Lions and eventually offered the position of Blue Lion pilot. However, Lance has reservations about the prince and does not believe he is of royalty. His suspicions are confirmed when Bokar kidnaps Allura and steals the Blue Lion.

When a ship is shot down on Planet Arus by several Doom ships, Hunk rescues the pilot, a pretty young girl named Twyla. While recuperating, Twyla explains that she is an escaped slave from Planet Doom. Hunk believes her but Keith has reservations. His reservations turn out to be well-founded when Twyla, under orders from King Zarkon, plants a time bomb in the Castle of Lions' ammunition storage room. |
After Princess Allura has a nightmare featuring her deceased mother, she follows a white lion into the Arusian forests, believing it to be the reincarnation of her father, unaware she is being lead into a trap by Haggar. Keith, Lance, Pidge and Hunk rush out to rescue the princess before she comes to harm. |
Fiery red rain falls on Planet Arus courtesy of Haggar's magic. Using the red rain as cover, Yurak leads an attack fleet on Arus, attacks a village, takes it's citizens hostage and uses them as bargaining chips in order to get the Voltron Force to surrender. |
After escaping from Neemon, a planet under the rule of King Zarkon, a young slave named Jai crash lands on Planet Arus and asks the Voltron Force for their help to free his people and their homeworld from Zarkon's tyranny. Zarkon arrives on Neemon to celebrate his birthday, but Voltron crashes the party when he shows up to free the planet. |
Princess Allura receives word that her aunt, Queen Orla, is coming to the Castle of Lions for a visit. But while en route the queen is captured by Haggar, who then uses her magic to disguise herself as Orla in order to gain entry to the Castle of Lions and kill Allura. Thanks to the uncharacteristic behaviour of the mice towards the disguised witch and the presence of her cat in the castle, the Voltron Force, except for Allura, become suspicious of Orla. |
Fed up with Yurak's constant failures, King Zarkon orders Yurak to be banished from Doom. But Zarkon's son, the newly-returned Prince Lotor, offers Yurak a chance at redemption: allow himself to be transformed into a Robeast and fight Voltron to the death. |
Princess Allura pilots the Black Lion without permission and winds up getting in to trouble when Prince Lotor and a fleet of Doom ships arrive on Arus with the intent of capturing her. The rest of the Voltron Force saves Allura but are angered by her actions. Later, Lotor issues an ultimatum to the Voltron Force: surrender Allura or her people will be harmed. |
To celebrate the reconstruction of the legendary Love Bridge, Allura and Hunk participate in a re-enactment of the tale where two people's love for each other caused the original bridge to magically form between their kingdoms. But Lotor crashes the celebration, intent on taking Allura for himself. |
Planet Polux, Arus' evil twin world, allies itself with King Zarkon and Planet Doom in hope of defeating
Voltron and taking over Arus. To help them with their plan, the eldest son of Polux's King Kova, Prince Avok,
allows himself to be turned into a Robeast to destroy Voltron. Meanwhile, the Voltron Force fly to Polux in an
attempt to bring peace between Arus and Polux. |
King Zarkon falls seriously ill and lies on the verge of death. Prince Lotor travels to Planet Arus in search of
native red berries that can cure his father. He takes along a magic potion that was brewed by another Doom
hag and uses it to create Tree Beasts to help capture Princess Allura. |
An old castle suddenly appears on Planet Arus. Pidge decides to check it out and bumps into several local
kids on the way. Together they head for the castle to explore it, unaware they're falling into a trap set by
Haggar. |
After Pidge's home planet of Balto is attacked, Keith, Lance, Pidge and Hunk travel to the planet in search of
survivors but find nothing except ruins. While there, they come under attack from Lotor and find it difficult to
fight back with Allura and the Blue Lion still on Planet Arus. |
