Still on the new planet, the Voltron Force are given an ultimatum from Hazar: leave or the Drules will destroy the planet.

  • The establishing shot of Drule headquarters' control room after the Drule missiles are launched was originally going to be cut.

  • The shot of the support fleet captain saying “Not yet!” was originally going to be cut, though his dialogue wasn't and was originally intended to be heard at the end of the previous shot.

When Voltron was dubbed from Dairugger XV, the series suffered a number of edits, mostly to remove material that was considered objectionable or inappropriate for Voltron. However, some of the deleted material was intended to be featured in the series only to wind up on the cutting room floor anyway. This section details what deleted material was intended to be featured in "Building A New World". Also detailed here are lines of dialogue that was scripted (and likely recorded) but not present in the episode.

  • Deleted from the shot of Jeff punching the Explorer crew member were several frames of blood splurting from the crew member's face as he's punched.

  • Deleted from the end of the scene of the Voltron Force relaxing on the Explorer's hull was a close-up shot of Hawkins watching them.

  • Deleted from the sequence where the Explorer leaves the planet was a shot of one of the support ship captains thinking to himself “How can anyone negotiate with Hazar?”

  • Deleted from the shot of Hutch, Marvin and Chip watching the planet in the throes of destruction was a line from Hutch: “Well, he could be here with us!”

The 'he' that Hutch is referring to appears to be Hazar. I suspect that the vagueness of the line is the reason why it was deleted.

Some lines of dialogue were originally scripted differently. This section details the noteworthy differences.

  • Rocky's line “Cool it, Chip!” was originally scripted as: “Chip, cool it!”

  • Jeff's line “Had enough?” was originally scripted as: “Had it?”

  • Cliff's line “What's going on here?” was originally scripted as: “What's going down?”

  • Hazar's line “That decision is up to the Galaxy Alliance. If they surrender the planet and leave all the improvements they've made, then destruction can be averted.” was originally scripted as: “That decision will be up to the Galaxy Alliance! If they surrender the planet, and leave intact all of the improvements they've made, then destruction can be averted.”

  • Hazar's line “Listen well! You have until 18:00 hours to evacuate the planet! This is your first and last warning! If you do not comply, the planet will be destroyed!” was originally scripted as “Listen to me well! You have until 18:00 hours to evacuate the planet. This is your first warning -- and your last! If you do not comply, the planet will be completely destroyed!”

  • The Garrison Diplomat's line “As you know, there is no native population.” was originally scripted as: “As you know, there is no indigenous population.”

  • Newley's line “He's no longer hiding. He's ready to attack!” was originally scripted as: “He's no longer hiding from us. That means he's ready to attack!”

  • Newley's line “It looks real bad! When will the Voltron Force have enough power to form the super robot?” was originally scripted as: “It looks downright bad! How much longer until the Voltron Force units have enough hyper-power stored up to form the Super Robot?”

  • Jeff's line “And not a minute too soon!” was originally scripted as: “And not a minute too late.”
